The program of living, working, staying and meeting makes the Weenapoint a versatile urban ensemble containing offices, apartments, retail and a restaurant. The tower has been designed as a specific building for a specific location, opposite the renewed Central Station. It enriches both the Rotterdam skyline as the public realm.
The building is a coming together of interconnected elements. The elements each have their own function, individual expression, quality and character and allow the building to be experienced as a composition of a number of linked components.
However, the Weenapoint provides more than a sum of compatible functions. The building provides the people who live, stay and work in the Weenapoint a variety of possibilities to meet and communally make use of the building. Perspectives and voids enable a variety of visual links between the functions. As a result, users of the building are continuously enabled to experience the presence of other users throughout the building. Voids and openings allow daylight to everywhere enter the building. Trees around, in and on top of the building enrich the experience.
